Book Review

What happens when you mix Jurassic Park with a bit of dragons? Well, without all the fighting or blood, you get Minerva and the Dragon Park. In my opinion, this is one of the most creative takes and storylines I have read in a while. To be truthful, I am not sure how this story has not gotten more attention, it is that good! It is a quick yet fun and breezy read. You feel as if you are soaring on the Golden Dragon through the pages until must disembark as you read the absolutely adorable ending. It was one of those stories that you truly wanted a couple more pages.

The story itself is about a character named Minerva who had signed up to work at a park dedicated towards Dragons, Dragonland. As she begins her journey, she discovers she was given the less-than-appealing position of cleaning up the park. While Minerva was slightly-less excited to do this, as a reader, I was thrilled! We traveled from numerous different islands in the park and got a peak into the level of creativity behind the masterpiece. Minerva does eventually grow to enjoy the traveling around islands, especially when she discovers how happy the tourists are. The feeling elated Minerva and she wanted to do more. While doing and working more has its benefits, there also can be consequences. Without spoiling too much of the ending, take the time and get this story! You will not be disappointed.

From the beginning of the story to the end of each chapter with the letters to Minerva’s mother -I was captured and enveloped into the story. For an author, Elizabeth Dunlap is clearly creating a lane of her own. I would not be surprised if one of her novels or short-stories get discovered for publishing. As an avid reader of this genre, she truly stands amongst the greatest in the industry right now.
