If Dark Elves had a Facebook, their relationship status with Humans would be considered complicated. Throw some Goblins in there and you have yourself one of the best short-stories in the fantasy-genre. The Bounty of the Everdark is a short-story written by the soon-to-be famous fantasy young-adult author, Lilian Oake. As a reader, I was instantly intrigued purely by the design of the book cover, which is rare in the fantasy industry. In that, the moment I began to read the story, each one of her characters came to life. It truly was one magical experience. While the reader does not fully get a glimpse of the world her characters live in, this truly enhances the entire reading experience.  Through her impeccable and award-worthy writing, she presents more-than impressive descriptions through-out the story.

Without spoiling too much of the adventure, Lorel, a dark elf, seeks to maintain and establish a stronger relationship with the human race. To her demise, she discovers an attempt to ruin the relationship by kidnapping the incoming Queen. Towards the second-half of the story, Lorel, with a deep sense of courage, attempts to stand for her beliefs. In that, it leads to a quite shocking climax-action scene setting way for a quite adorable ending. The Bounty of the Everdark is a young adult fantasy short-story created to capture the attention of children in a new and exciting way. In my opinion, this story is not just for children, but also adults! Everyone could read this short-story and leave with a smile on their face.

This is incredible because, while the story may only be under 20 pages, it is easily worth more! Lilian Oake is making a name for herself in the fantasy industry and the young-adult industry. With numerous famous authors in the spotlight, it will not be long before she is up there. Not only is her writing style intriguing and captivating, it is easily comparable to the greatest in the genre, and industry. I recommend this book to an avid fiction and fantasy reader seeking for a quick, fun and, honestly, cheap read.
